McCollin Bryan

McCollin Bryan’s philosophy is to create functional furniture & objects with subtle and intriguing dimensions. Key is the process of experimentation and development of visual concepts.
A series of experiments with resins & forms resulted in the Abyssus in 2008, a table with a sculptural presence, rich in its surface & clean in its form.
The Abyssus tables comprise a highly polished resin surface which conceals a gilt core. The darkened resin creates a curious veil over the opulent centre, drawing the eye to the sinuous textures within that provide a sharp contrast to the Abyssus’ geometric form.
Oval or round coffee table with high polished surface over a textured gilded core.

Onto either brass legs, castors, or dome feet.
Care:
The resin should be cleaned with a multi-surface, wax-free polish and a soft, clean cloth.
Fine scratches may occur with use but will be reduced with regular polishing.
Please avoid placing hot items on the surface. This may cause damage to the resin.
Chrome legs to be polished with a silver / metal polish.

McCollin Bryan mix strong forms and traditional techniques with new combinations of materials. Blurring the lines between furniture & sculpture, the pieces play with contrasts & opposites: heavy but floating; organic surfaces with geometric forms; negative & positive spaces. Using transparent resins and plasters, the work continues to exploit the inherent qualities of materials, creating pieces that have purity and beauty.
The multi-tonal effects created by the rich hues in the Lunar table top suggest it is lit from within. The depth of colour gives the impression of looking upon something precious and otherworldly.
The Lunar table is hand cast in our London studio. The colour and reflective qualities are intensified by the gilded internal dome. The legs can be ordered in black or patinated bronze.
